Information Category: Lynda.com which has now become LinkenIn Learning

I feel like this is the information age, and companies like this offer a huge positive resource to consumers by allowing them to learn the skills they need to improve their portfolio or get a job or raise.  I think this is a well laid out site, and has a lot of great programs that I have used, and we are using it alot in school too.

But today, the site, an online learning database that helps people master skills in business, technology, software, and more through videos, has more than four million users and recently sold to LinkedIn for $1.5 billion.

LinkedIn proudly boasts as the “world’s largest professional network” with more than 645 million users and 19,000 employees worldwide and a goal to “connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful.”

On December 8, 2016, technology giant Microsoft (MSFT) acquired LinkedIn Corporation for $27.0 billion. There is just always ONE corporation that needs to own everything!  LinkedIn makes money by selling advertising, recruitment services, and membership privileges.  The old lynda.com made money by selling courses, and subscriptions.  It did very well amassing a huge database of content and people, which is what allowed her to sell for 1.5BILLION, basically sold our data!
